Epworth HealthCare group implemented BOSSnet DMR in November 2010.
This project involved the import and seamless integration into BOSSnet DMR of over 1.5 million existing documents from legacy document imaging system, a process accomplished in just 17 days.
Following initial efforts at converting their medical records in 2005, Epworth turned to Core Medical Solutions to provide a system that would ultimately be used by clinicians to provide them with a comprehensive range of integrated functionality stretching beyond the Digital Medical Record.
The key to early clinical embrace and positive feedback of BOSSnet at Epworth Eastern has been the system’s user intuitiveness and ability to present medical records in the manner reflecting the way they would have been read in hard copy.
At Epworth scanning staff are really pleased with the results and are saving significant time due to the ease of use of the BOSSnet DMR system.
The next phase for Epworth is electronic results review and linking this to the electronic prescribing.
They also have the scope to do much more including creating electronic forms, the order entry of results and electronic discharge summaries.
Future plans include the potential to extend the system across the five remaining campuses within the group. Greg notes that Doctors have already requested BOSSnet for Emergency as they can see the huge benefit it would bring to their area.
Epworth HealthCare remains the first private hospital group in Victoria to use a scanned medical record system.
