CMS staff host Allscripts Innovators Event

In early January of this year, 100 health IT professionals converged at the Allscripts Innovators Event to take part in a discussion on HealthIT leadership.

The event which was held at the Mayfair Hotel, was occupied at full capacity and included health IT professionals from several national and local health IT companies, heard from Nic Woods, health industry executive of Microsoft; Bill Le Blanc, top awarded Australian CIO; Rohan Ward, CMIO of Allscripts; Tina Joros, VP and GM Open Business Unit of Allscripts; Erik Kins, VP and CIO Open Business Unit of Allscripts; Lindsey Kramer, Manager of the Allscripts Developer Program and Robert Dickau, Director of Innovation at Allscripts.

CMIO of Allscripts and Managing Director of CMS Dr. Rohan Ward said, “The event was incredibly successful. In addition to discovering new insights from the impressive line-up of special guests, we engaged other vendors with the impressive integration solutions that Allscripts can offer as an opportunity to address common challenges in global healthcare markets.”

Director of Business Development for Allscripts and CMS Narelle Portakiewicz who was the MC for the event said that she was really pleased with the turn out, “the day was an overwhelming success, and we received a lot of positive feedback, particularly on the quality of our speakers”.

Health industry executive of Microsoft Dr. Nic Woods gave a fantastic opening keynote presentation which gave a glimpse of the future through some amazing things that Microsoft is pioneering. CEO of DoseMe, Charles Cornish joined Nic on stage towards the end of his presentation to talk about the partnership with Allscripts and Microsoft with their DoseMe application.

The event concluded with a great closing keynote address from CIO of SA Health Bill Le Blanc, who shared the success of innovative Health IT projects from SA Health’s point of view.

The day after the Allscripts Innovators Event, an Innovators Technical Workshop was held which was a session more focussed on software engineering via the Allscripts Developers Program (ADP). Participants consisted of software engineers that were from the several vendors whose representatives attended the Allscripts Innovators Event. The software engineers participated in a hands-on development session where Erik Kins and Robert Dickau gave an overview on how the ADP could assist them in architecting a prototype using the Allscripts API.
